Have you seen this unusual flowering plant called “Kalanchoe Pink Butterfly”? It has tiny pink flowers on the serrated edges of the succulent plant’s leaves.
What about this strange-looking plant that resembles tiny old men in Harry Potter’s magical world? It is known as the Mandrake plant. European mandrake root is a powerful narcotic, emetic, sedative, and hallucinogen. People take it to treat stomach ulcers, colic, constipation, asthma, hay fever, convulsions, arthritis-like pain (rheumatism), and whooping cough.
Tan It Koon
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
