Please enjoy some wooden handicraft artworks I brought back from Russia during my visits. Most souvenir shops in Russia display an extensive array of the most common souvenirs: wooden Matryoshka dolls. These are typically Russian sets of nested wooden dolls, one inside another. Typically, there are three to more than ten hand-painted dolls in a set, with a single figure on the outside and decreasingly smaller, nested dolls inside.
Other wooden folk handicraft souvenirs include a salt and pepper set in the form of a pair of pigs and various birds.
Tan It Koon
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
