Please enjoy some Guangdong Shiwan ceramic figurines handmade during China’s Cultural Revolution Period. They are still in their original boxes when I acquired them years ago:
＊Two older men doing Taiji exercises;
＊A young cowherd on the back of a buffalo leading another buffalo appearing to be half-submerged in water;
＊A pair of glazed blue ceramic vases decorated with magnolia flowers and buds;
＊A large black and blue vase;
＊A blue & white Chinese wine container with dragon decoration.
Tan It Koon
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
