Please enjoy landscape paintings on two decorative ornamental fine porcelain plates, which I acquired from Jingdezhen, which is best known for its porcelain production in China. It is located in Jiangxi and is called the “Porcelain Capital of China” due to its important role in the domestic and international porcelain industry.
The first painting features a scenic view of a large villa with several buildings built at the side of a lake surrounded by a forest with different types of trees. A large balcony which extends from the villa faces a mountain with beautiful waterfalls. Another painting features two palace maidens standing on an arch bridge over a lake in the Imperial Summer Palace Garden. Several white cranes are seen flying over the lake.
Please also enjoy a pair of unusually shaped porcelain vases in white with paintings of bamboo in blue on all four sides, a vase in blue with paintings of white plum flowers, and a white vase with decorative fine cracked lines all over its entire surface.
Tan It Koon
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
