Posthumous post
When I landed in a temperate country (in London) years ago, the first kind of flowers that greeted me were the Geraniums (also known as Pelargoniums) with different colours. They were often seen on window sills, in plant boxes, and in small gardens in front of rows of houses. Later, I realised that Geraniums were the most common floral plants in Europe and temperate countries.
In the early 1970s, when I took a trip to Lake Toba in Sumatra, Indonesia, it included a visit to Brasatigi. This town, about 66 km south of Medan, is 1300 m above the sea. I was surprised to see Geraniums growing well. I brought some small plants home, which survived the Singapore weather for a few years. They are remembered by paintings I created when they were growing well in my garden.
