Longquan City, Zhejiang Province, China, is famous for the Jade-Like Green Porcelains produced by the kilns first built by two brothers, Ge (Older Brother) and Di (Younger Brother) Kilns. The porcelains of Ge Kiln have apparent characteristics. Their surfaces are covered with crack-like lines with unpredictable patterns and colours. Surprisingly, such cracked line patterns are very popular with porcelain collectors.
Porcelain figurines artist Yang Yongxiang is a representative of modern Longquan celadon figurines. His well-known works during the “Cultural Revolution Period” include “Model Opera”, “Taiping Rebellion Army” and “Shepherd Boy”.
Mr. Cai Yan from Asia Art Gallery acquired two sets of porcelain “Lioness and a Pair of Cubs” with cracked line designs from Yang Yongxiang and sold them to me. Please also enjoy two green celadon vases, one with a relief carving of a phoenix in flight and another with a crane painting.
