Please enjoy my colour and ink painting “Fishing Alone at a Clear Mountain Stream”, which depicts a person fishing leisurely in a boat on a clear stream at the bottom of a high mountain.
When I stayed abroad, I often made arrangements with friends on weekends to take short trips to the mountains, visit waterfalls, visit scenic parks, stay in small villages and farms, enjoy lake tours, and cruises on riverboats. In Autumn, when the weather is often fine and the air cool and crispy, it is particularly suitable for outdoor activities. Please enjoy my painting 《Climbing Up a High Mountain In Golden Autumn 》 to express the sentiments of this poem that I have just written:
“In Autumn, when the weather is sunny and cool,
Trees in the mountain forests have changed to a golden brown;
Let us take this opportunity to visit the mountain;
Get together, enjoy pleasant fellowship and hearty conversations.”
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
