Please enjoy my ink and colour painting in a long scroll, created some years ago, to celebrate the New Year. It features mixed-coloured chrysanthemum flowers in a large woven basket, a red porcelain vase, a blue bonsai container, and a set of turquoise blue teapots and cups. A poem on the floral arrangement was written in Running Script in the upper right-hand corner of the painting.
让我祝大家新年快乐，幸福健康。上帝照顾您一切生活上的需要。 请欣赏我几年前为庆祝新年而创作的彩墨长卷画。 画中的大藤篮装满不同颜色的大菊花、另一个红色瓷花瓶和盆栽中装的是雏菊花。一桌上还有一套绿松石蓝色茶壶和杯子。 我在画的右上端以行书提款和写了一首插花诗。
I would like to share with you a beautiful view of a mountain village at Yanshan (Swallow Mountain), some 25 km on the outskirts of Beijing, which inspired me to create this large scrolled brush painting in Chinese ink and colours.
让我和大家分享一下北京郊区约25公里处燕山的一个山村的美丽景色，它激发了我用中国水墨和色彩创作这幅彩墨画的灵感。
Tan It Koon
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
