Please enjoy two oil paintings I acquired from Thailand. One features a minority woman of a hill tribe wearing chunky silver jewellery and smoking a pipe. Look carefully; you can see on her left a woman carrying her baby with a piece of cloth across her body and having farm produce on a large round tray on her head and a rattan basket on her back. On her right are thatched roof houses of the village. It was painted on a wooden board pasted with dried leaves of various trees native to the tribal village.
Another painting shows two women using rattan traps to catch mud crabs in shallow parts of a river near the paddy field.
