Years ago, a large basement store in the Park Mall building was the agent for fine Czech Bohemian crystal wares, such as decorative vases, bowls, and plates of various shapes and sizes. Once, a special exhibition featuring crystal works in various brilliant colours was held. It was quite a change from the usual clear, colourless products.
I am so glad I decided to acquire several works in different colours on display, as I was afraid they might not be available after the exhibition. True enough, I did not encounter any similar coloured crystals after that in any Bohemian crystal stores I visited, both in Singapore and overseas. It appears they were in minimal supply and were no longer made.

Tan It Koon
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
