I am glad to share a Commemorative Gold Coin Set, which was acquired in 1979. It was produced to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, 1949 -1979.

The set includes four coins, each 27mm in diameter, 22K, and half an ounce of pure gold. It comes with an original wooden box with a carving featuring Tian An Men (Gate of Heavenly Peace) in Beijing and three peony flowers, symbolizing prosperity. The four coins depict four of China’s historically significant national monuments with a face value of 400 Yuan. The obverse design of each coin is the national emblem of the People’s Republic of China. The reverse designs are Tian An Men, the Monument to the People’s Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall.

I am also glad to share a single large stamp produced to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the PRC. It features a sizeable 3-yuan stamp in gold with the image of the Gate of Heavenly Peace in red at the centre, surrounded by 56 people in unique ethnic costumes holding hands in a joyous dance to celebrate the occasion. They represent all the ethnic groups that make up the population of China.
