In 1990, I was on a WHO Fellowship for attachments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Children’s Hospital of the University of Washington, and the University of Connecticut Medical Center to study the service setup and practice of therapeutic drugs monitoring, toxicological investigations, and drug of abuse testings in the US.
During my 3-month stay in Connecticut, I took the opportunity to visit the house that used to be occupied by the famous author Mark Twain in Hartford, Connecticut. The house was built in the American High Gothic style. The Mark Twain House & Museum was the author’s home, where he and his family lived from 1874 to 1891. He wrote most his best-known works while living there, including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Prince and the Pauper, Life on the Mississippi, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, A Tramp Abroad, and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.
I am glad to share a watercolour painting of the house acquired during this visit.
