I am pleased to share with you Chen Yanning’s (陈衍宁) masterpiece Amidst the Flowers which depicts a simple, happy, and carefree village life. This artwork features two young ethnic minority women wearing traditional costumes and jade bracelets, holding a plate of corn kernels under a tree full of hanging wisteria flowers in bloom, and feeding eight hens and roosters. The artist indicated he painted the artwork in the “City of Goats” (a nickname for Guangzhou) on the Bank of the Pearl River.
You can see the artist Chen Yanking at work painting Queen Elizabeth’s portrait in a photo. Another photo shows an oil painting of a young lady with an umbrella standing beside a Wisteria tree in bloom (top).
