Please enjoy the delightful sculptures created with colored blocks of soaps. Italian artist and world champion carving designer, Daniele Barresi, created these detailed and intricate artworks.
This 27-year old artist discovered his talent at a very young age – when he was only 7. Sculpting is his forte, and his first materials for sculpting were initially food. He carved exquisite works of art in just about any kind of fruit or vegetable.
Wishing to expand his sculpture material a little wider and find one which would not decay so quickly after completion (i.e., fruits and vegetables), he searched and discovered his ideal material – a simple bar of soap. Look at the variety of subjects in his attractive works. The artist now resides in Sydney, Australia.
Tan It Koon
Before retirement, Dr Tan It Koon was, among many appointments, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at SGH’s Dept of Pathology. He was the Deputy Chairman of the National Theatre Trust and Chairman for Grants and Scholarships of the Spore Cultural Foundation. He received the National Day Awards, PBM, and PPA, for his contribution to cultural and community development and excellence in Public Administration.
